Does it make sense to test my children?

Find out from what age it makes sense to be tested, to what extent our test can be used for children and what needs to be considered.

It depends on the age of the child. We recommend conducting the test after the completion of puberty. By this time, the microbiome has stabilized to a greater extent, and the reference values are more applicable. With younger children, our understanding is limited, and the microbiome undergoes rapid changes. Often, not all reference values align. While such a test can be discussed, possibly with a doctor, it should be approached with caution. Additionally, our recommendations primarily target adults. It is important to us that all information we provide is scientifically supported by publications. Unfortunately, there are very few to no publications available regarding children's microbiomes.

However, we can definitely recommend our children's book 'Die Darmhelden' to you. With it, children learn playfully how important a healthy gut microbiome is. Click here to access our product page. (only available in German)
