# What are the proper steps for collecting a stool sample?

Learn the correct procedures for collecting a stool sample, guaranteeing the reliability of the sample and accurate results in your microbiome analysis.

You should follow these steps to take your stool sample:

**1\. Preparation:**

**a)** Remove the tube from its packaging and place it together with the sampling stick next to your toilette.

**b)** Place the stool collector onto the toilette seat. Sit so that the stool falls right into the stool catcher.

Recommendation: Try not to urinate during your bowel movement. It is best to empty your bladder first.

**2\. Taking the sample:**

**a)** Unscrew the tube and take a small sample of your stool at three different spots with the sampling stick.

**b)** Insert the sampling stick into the tube and stir for 30 seconds to dissolve the stool in the liquid.

**c)** Break off the sampling stick in the tube at the predetermined buckling point. Tightly screw on the lid of the tube (with the sampling stick in it).

**Important: Activate your test before you send your sample to our laboratory!**
